Front Line Workers' Appreciation Barbeque

Friday, June 10, 4 pm - 8 pm

The PG Pandemic Recovery Appreciation Celebration will feature a range of entertainment and BBQ-style hospitality and will be hosted by the Community Arts Council of Prince George & District (CAC) and the Prince George Chamber of Commerce (PGCC). The event will have internal support from a wide range of local businesses who will want to show their gratitude and appreciation for the primary guests of honour, which will be frontline workers in healthcare and social services who have worked tirelessly since the start of the pandemic. The RAC will be a tented, outdoor event with people taking part in the sharing of tasty food and beverages, live entertainment, and cultural displays. It is expected that this will be the City of Prince George's first major post-pandemic event, an opportunity for people to come out into the fresh air, meet old and make new connections, see what is new in the local business community and collectively look forward to a strong and sustainable new future together.

Great Northern Chili Cook Off

Saturday, June 11, 11 am - 2 pm

Be sure to join us for the Prince George Potters Guild's 45th Annual Great Northern Chili Cookoff. Fourteen teams will be competing this year to see who has the best chili, and we expect our local politicians, celebrities, and arts cheerleaders to be presenting their finest recipes.  The chili bowls are a real draw – they are all hand-crafted and beautifully made by our local potters, and over the years have been enthusiastically collected by our supporters.

The competition is exciting and this is a unique and tasty way to celebrate and support the both the culinary and fine arts. This is something our whole community looks forward to, so be sure to join us. Buy a bowl to take home, taste the chili, vote for your favourite team! This is a not-to-be-missed event.

Local Celebrity Chefs Show Off!

Sunday, June 12, 11 am - 2 pm

The BC Gourmet Arts Festival is proud to announce the Top Taste Tournament, sponsored by Birch and Boar Charcuterie and Provisions, a one-day special event on Sunday, June 12th. Each participating truck/table/trailer will receive a pre-built “black box” created and supplied by Birch and Boar. After receiving their package, each participant will be required to create a canapé-style dish for each judge within the hour. Specific rules are still being outlined, but the basics involve a final dish employing “most” of the ingredients provided. This will then be rated for presentation, creativity, flavor, and the implementation of the black box’s contents. Each participant will have unlimited access to the resources within their own truck/table/trailer, but nothing beyond this.  Only one truck will emerge victorious.
